Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookies
I keep these in my freezer so I always have something ready for guests.
Yield: About 24 cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup active sourdough starter or discard
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment.
Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
Beat in eggs one at a time. Add sourdough starter and vanilla.
In separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt.
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix just until combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Scoop onto baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
Bake 10–12 minutes until golden edges and soft centers.
Let sit on pan 5 minutes before moving.
Best Move: Chill dough 1 hour first for thicker bakery-style cookies.
